Loading guidance

Planning a load for a 53′ van.

Quick reference for shippers. If your freight is unusual, describe it in your quote request and we’ll confirm the plan.

Standard pallets
26 positions for 48″ × 40″ pallets loaded straight, single-stacked. Pinwheel or turned loading can change the count.
Double-stacking
Possible for freight that is rated and packaged for it, within the trailer’s interior height and weight limits. Tell us when you quote.
Weight
US federal gross vehicle weight is 80,000 lb. Usable payload depends on the tractor, trailer and fuel load — typically around 44,000–45,000 lb for a dry van.
Securement
Load bars or straps are used where freight could shift. Note any special securement needs on your quote request.
